Sunday Briefing: Ben Tollerene Wins the Sunday Grand

High-stakes cash game guru Ben “Ben86” Tollerene showed the poker world he also has the skills to succeed in major online tournaments this weekend when he triumphed in the $1,050 Sunday Grand NLHE at PokerStars.

Tollerene topped a field of 281 to get his hands on $53,504 after defeating “MITS 304” of Cyprus heads up, which resigned the runner-up to a $40,063 consolation prize. Tollerene also reached the final table of the $1,050 Sunday Grand PLO where he bust in seventh place for $6,957.

The PLO edition of the Sunday Grand was a star-studded affair that saw the United Kingdom’s “Ahhh Is It?” win the $29,176 first-place prize, Dominik “Bounatirou” Nitsche finished second for $21,903 and Ole “wizowizo” Schemion was eliminated in third place for $16,443.

Greece’s “geob000” secured the largest payday on March 5, winning the Sunday Million. Almost 13 hours after investing $215, geob000 walked away with the $149,332 top prize.

  • “Naza114” – winner of the $700 Super-Sized Sunday for $39,998

Over at partypoker, the $325,000 Gtd Title Fight missed the guarantee by $1,000 which means the prize pool remains at $325,000 on March 12. Had it hit, $350,000 would have been up for grabs.

This week’s Title Fight ended in a heads-up chop with Rocco “JENOVA” Palumbo crowned champion and winning $44,995. Runner-up “Ciao_Palacco” banked $44,951 and had earlier finished as runner-up to “WeShootItOFC” in the $100K Gtd High Roller for $25,295 with the champion scooping $25,344.

“que_te_crio” won the $50,000 Gtd Weigh-In tournament and turned $109 into $11,561 while “DameUnLimon” was crowned the $150,000 Gtd Main Event champion in the early hours of March 6, a finish that was worth a cool $27,352.

Another large score weighed in at $15,208, which is the sum that “NBA2k12FAN” walked away with after winning the $50K Gtd Turbo High Roller. The two biggest scores at partypoker this weekend came in the $150,000 Gtd High Roller and $2,600 Super High Roller which paid out $35,938 to “Ender-112” and $53,914 to “Algorhytm.”

Completing this week’s Sunday Briefing are the result from 888poker. The United Kingdom’s “Hindukrush” took down the $120,000 Whale for $27,614. The $120,000 Mega Deep ended in a heads-up chop with “tikkapekka” and “V.BlomFan60” securing payouts of $23,793 and $20,775, respectively.

The $40,000 Turbo Mega Deep had a Norwegian champion this week as “kaggis” turned $215 into $9,202 while “starkinver” won $12,319 in the $50,000 Sunday Crocodile.

Lastly for this week is a shout out to “PairDrawGood” who won the $80,000 Sunday Challenge 1R, a finish worth $15,926.
